Have you heard about Decompression or Traction, but never knew what it was?

The Chattanooga Triton DTS Decompression Traction System is used for neck and low back pains. Common diagnoses that benefit from this therapy are general neck or back pain/discomfort, bulging/herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, pain shooting down your arm, and headaches.

The computer-generated machine will gently pull or traction your spine resulting in a decompression effect on your spinal discs. The system can also help relieve pressure, relax tight muscles, break spasms and mobilize your joints. The decompression force helps with improved blood flow and nutrient exchange.

The session lasts 10-15 minutes. For your neck, you lay comfortably on your back & take a nap! For low backs- our machines allow us to get you in the most comfortable position- on your back- on your tummy – on your side! Decompression therapy should not hurt; you may feel a gentle pull or you may feel nothing at ll. Most people start seeing good results within 4 visits. For more advanced problems, 12-18 sessions are common over 4-6 weeks.

One reason for this is we have to allow your body time to adapt and heal. Healing processes take time, so you must be patient! If you do have a chronic problem, after your initial treatment period, a good plan is to come in once per month for prevention & maintenance.

Prior to your first decompression session, it’s important to have an examination to make sure it is a good fit for you! Some reasons you would not want to do decompression therapy are if you are pregnant, have bone cancer, have a fracture, or if your blood pressure is too high.

After your initial visit, you may be a little sore- like you overdid it at the gym or working around the house. You can use ice to help reduce any soreness. Then, depending on how sore you are (you may not be sore at all!) your next visit we can increase the amount of weight the machine will pull! We also encourage you do drink LOTS of water! How much is a lot? You should drink half your body weight in ounces. If you weigh 200 pounds, you would need 100 ounces (5 bottles) per day! The disc in your spine need water & restores the water when you are sleeping and have all the pressure load off your discs. The water will not only help replenish your discs, but will also help flush out toxins.
